Regular Organic Cotton Tampons (Pack of 16)

Dame's 100% organic cotton tampons are crafted from natural, chemical-free cotton that is grown without pesticides. They contain no synthetics, dyes, or plastics. The cotton is sourced from certified organic farms, ensuring both environmental and social sustainability. These tampons are biodegradable and home-compostable, including the plant-based wrappers.

Soft and gentle, these non-applicator tampons (which can also be used with DAME's Reusable Applicator) are hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. Made from natural and pH-neutral ingredients, they help prevent irritations and allergies. With their sideways expansion design, you can expect leak-free comfort and reliable protection.

DAME believes that products should not harm or exploit our natural world. Therefore, their tampons are free from pesticides, plastic, bleach, super-absorbents, coloring, and harsh chemicals, helping to prevent harmful toxins from entering our oceans.

Many customers report that after switching to these organic tampons, their periods become lighter, shorter, or less painful within just 60 days.

Directions
Always wash your hands thoroughly before inserting your tampon. Ensure you’re in a comfortable position and try to relax. For tips and tricks for inserting your tampon on DAME's website.

To use a tampon or menstrual cup overnight, insert it before going to bed and remove it as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you expect to sleep for more than eight hours, consider using period pads or period underwear instead.

Select the appropriate absorbency for your flow, insert with or without an applicator, and change regularly. We offer three absorbencies of tampon:

  • Regular tampons, which absorb 6 to 9ml of blood (good for most days of your period)
  • Super tampons, which absorb 9 to 12ml of blood (extra absorption for heavier days)
  • Super Plus tampons, which absorb 12 to 15ml of blood (covered for the heaviest days)

Make sure to always use a tampon with the minimum absorbency to match your flow.

Why Switch?

The average woman uses 12,000 tampons in her lifetime. That's a tampon inside your vagina for a total of 7.5 years.

Most tampons are made from synthetic fibres, plastics, and treated with harsh chemicals. DAME think it’s time to be honest about what goes into women’s bodies, so we make our tampons with nothing but organic cotton.

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is extremely rare. That said, it’s very serious and can be fatal. It’s caused by a toxin produced by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, which is commonly found in the skin, nose and vagina. Women, men and children can develop TSS. Menstrual TSS is usually associated with tampon use. It’s more likely to happen to people under 30. Early treatment is important. If you have any of these symptoms while using your tampon or period cup, remove it and talk to your doctor immediately: - Flu-like symptoms - Muscle aches - Sore throat - Diarrhea or vomiting - Fainting or near fainting - A sudden high fever over 39° - Skin irritation similar to sunburn Talk to your doctor about using a tampon or cup if you’ve had TSS in the past. Reducing the risk: - Use a DAME Reusable Period Pad or Pants instead of a tampon or cup for at least once a day during your period - Use a tampon with the minimum absorbency needed - Clean your hands before and after using a tampon - Always change your tampon every 4-8 hours

  • DAME has reimagined period products, creating comfortable, toxin-free, sustainable alternatives, while also breaking a few taboos along the way. Their mission as a company is to make periods positive for every woman by creating sustainable, planet-friendly sanitary products as a certified B Corp.

For example, Dame believes tampon applicators are useful, but once discarded, they become waste. Perhaps calling them useless is too kind—1.3 billion plastic applicators are thrown away after just one use every year in the UK.

However, they understand that many people prefer tampons with applicators and always have. That’s why their reusable applicator is designed to offer all the benefits of a traditional applicator without the environmental downsides.

The more the DAME applicator is used, the more sustainable it becomes. Dame continuously tracks the products their applicator replaces, how many people are using them, and how often. As of July 2023, Dame has prevented over 20 million disposable plastic applicators from ending up as waste.

Dame also strives to measure every step of their products’ existence—from the impact of the materials, production, and transportation, to the impacts of using the products and finally disposing of them. The two largest areas of carbon emissions are using and distributing. Interestingly, it’s their reusable products that create emissions during the using phase, because they are washed repeatedly for years. Meanwhile, it’s their disposable products that account for the lion’s share of distribution emissions, as they are sold more frequently and in higher volumes.

Dame is committed to sustainability through innovative design, reducing environmental impact, and promoting conscious consumer choices. Their mission focuses on creating products that are both better for the planet and for people, setting new standards for eco-friendly period care.
